    Clint,

    With abundant roots like that, I am thinking you just need an empty wood basket.
    You might not even need lava rocks inside the basket.
    Perhaps just throw in a few strands of sphagnum moss.

    I think you might be right...I might just do that. (I'll post a picture when I get it potted and I'm satisfied with it.)

    There would be...but I put Neem oil on the plant--ants avoid that stuff like the plague!

    I would say it might be an Australian Dendrobium of some sort. Possibly, Dendrobium speciosum or a hybrid of it. Let's see if we can get Murray to take a look at it. Why don't you PM him with a link to this thread.
