everything I read about vandas says they're heavy feeders and like growth hormones (at least while they're actively growing, which is year round down south but only half the year up here on the NY windowsill).

I've used superthrive in the past, but only have KLN now. a few drops in a 32 oz spray bottle when I remember (I spray the roots heavily, and rarely spray the leaves). I can't be sure it definitely helps, but suspect it may assist in root development (although they get plenty of fertilizer too).

That is a beautiful vanda. I love it. When you have it in a clay pot, what happens to all the long roots?

Hopefully, I'll have "happy things" to report about mine in the next year. I just keep telling myself: your getting better, it's going to bloom, look at those new roots, light green leaves..light green leaves...

I have this in a wire-frame pot that looks to be plastic-coated metal (or something like that). the clay pellets stay in, but there's plenty of air exchange. not sure if the middle of the pot is anoxic, but the roots tend to grow along the sides. the ones that grow out into mid-air get wrapped back towards the pot when they get long enough, taking care to wet them first to make them more pliable.
