If it wandered to the back I would have to suspend it. I can wire this mount in the center of a larger one. I have done that before with other species. My other option would be to attach a mount next to it and make 2 plants out of it eventually but I think this one would be better as a larger specimen.
Ron, just a question, would more blossoms (in total) result from dividing?
Joe, this seems to develop more leads as it grows. It originally had 1 lead and now there are 3. One lead has not put out it's buds yet. So, I suspect the # of leads will keep increasing. There is a technique that I can use to increase the # of leads and that is to cut the rhizome here and there. The only problem with that is that it would no longer be considered one plant in the eyes of the AOS for award purposes. Not that I plan on taking things to judging. I have used that technique in the past to get back bulbs to throw a front lead. I usually do that a year prior to when I plan on dividing a plant and have only done that with Catts that are potted. It gives me trade fodder to increase my collection with.
Edit: It would take a couple of years to divide. The plant can't be removed from it's mount without causing permanent damage so I would only allow it to meander onto another mount next to it and then cut the rhizomes in between once it is established on the mount next to it. .
Terrific insider tip. Thanks.
