yeah... basically, when u get a healthy plant that has a couple of growths, u just separate the growths... I wouldn't separate each individual growth though as you are more likely to get flowers from the new growths and better ones at that when it's a stronger plant. The other thing is that in general, try and let the plant grow as big as you can... the sight of a plant with multiple flowers are just amazing!
Finally you will find that some larger plants will naturally divide itself as the older plants between them die off....
so don't be in such a hurry to divide, let the plant get as big as it wants to

@ Tim and Derek.....I have divided two of my plants so far...my oncidium (because when it was repoted the grower actually put two young plants together in the same pot to make it look fuller. Seperate root systems too.) and my dendrobium which was pretty much dead. .....I will deff wait to divide this one...or any others anymore because I want to see some big powerful blooms within a couple of years.
