Nice roots!
Growers, mostly ones that grow in a greenhouse with thousands of plants tightly pack moss to ensure that the plant aren't drying out too much.
It allows them to go longer without wasting water. They like to take advantage of the moss's tendency to hold water for longer, so they would use less water and gain more profit.
In the home, we have less light, and tend to water more. It will be fine in that moss, if you are careful not to overwater. Wait until the whole entire rootball is dry then water.
If you do decide to repot, repot in moss too. I find that moss to bark is sometimes a big step. Repotting in flower will cause no harm. Phals are really forgiving plants, and as long as you don't cut too much roots, they will be fine
You know, I did repot it and cut off the little ends that were black/brown and it has been just fine so far. I havent seen the spike dying and it looks ok.
I also bought a really beautiful harlequin phal last week at Lowes that someone had dropped the whole thing and broken the glass pot it was in . The plant fell out of its plastic clear pot also and was laying on the shelf un-rooted. I got it half price, took it to work and then home and re-potted it into fresh bark and the flowers have not even noticed!! They are just as beautiful and the un-opened buds are opening. So it does appear that if you dont lose a lot roots, and put the plant back into what they came from, they will do alright when re-potted. Or so it has been with these two little phals.
I am much relieved as I am new to this and have much fear when repotting them.
Thanks for the help all. You were right.

That is just beautiful.
Phals are very forgiving and low repots.
Even when in bloom, a repot won't really hurt it much- but that medium is really bad looking, I'd repot ASAP
