I only water mine when the reservoir is halfway empty
Switching potting cultures on a plant every 2 months will cause too much stress to the plant.
It takes at least one full growing cycle before the plant can adapt and establish itself in the new culture.
Hi JOhn,
I know I made a mistake in switching pot culture with my oncidium because nothing was happening and I assumed s/h is not for them or maybe it's not really the best time of the year to re pot them in s/h that's why I made the switching. For now I will let them sit in the clay pot with the LECA as the medium and as far as watering is concern, I water them when the LECA is completely dry.
just make sure you dont let the new roots dry out too much or they will die.
Do you mean I will not allow the LECA to go bone dry before the next watering? I'm confused now...They said the media has to dry before watering....
Lol, yeah let the LECA go almost dry before watering but you can also mist the new roots every few days or so, that way the roots wont dry up and by the end of the day the LECA will be dry again even after you have mist it. Do this early in the morning =)
