Epc. Rene Marques 'Flame Thrower'

Jeff; I love this Epicattleya. I have Epicattleya Rene Marquez "Tyler" and I am hoping for blooms in the not to distant futue. By the way how many times a year does yours bloom and I let the Epicattleya dry somewhat between waterings, (mines in lava rock). i water a 4 inch pot about every 5 days now. Is that o.k.? Humidity of 50% to 60% average. Thanks and fantastic flowers! AL

Mine blooms once a year and this annual event shld occur in the next few weeks.
I read somewhere you shld not remove the old spikes as they will often get new flowers.
Unfortunately, I haven't manage with mine.
Have no clue why.

Mine blooms annually about this time. It's in bark mix and I water every 7-10 days in the winter. This also depends on weather and daylight ammounts. The warmer and sunnier the more water and cooler and overcast it gets less.

Wow Jeff ! The plant is super healthy ! It looks quite different from my Epcs. multiple sets of leaves on the same growth and the flower form surely relate to the Epidendrum dominance. Lovely plant. I must increase my efforts to get this one LOL !

Thats it then ; your plant has flowers maybe twice the size of mine ( my species) but otherwise everythuing is much the same - height etc. You pays your money and you takes your choice - as they say. A difficult choice. I like the 30- 40 flowers and I like the big ones too !
