How to get more orchid roots on dendrobium

The information on this site is amazing. I have a den that I'm nursing back to health. I am amazed about the watering schedule. I'm down to one pale leaf and two pale green stalks. Wonder if it will make it. Many people say it's just the way dens are.

What medium are you using now? Most dends like rapid drying cycles, so use a medium that dries out quickly so that you can water again more frequently during the growing season. Unhealthy roots are almost always caused by medium that is too wet/dense.

My den is in Special Orchid Mix, endorsed by the American Orchid Society. It consists of bark etc. Does not hold water. What is the watering schedule for Orchids?

Okay. I'm not sure what that special mix consists of, but suually in a bark mix, once or twice (only if your environment is very dry) per wee when they are in active growth. Half that or even less in winter.
