In the older books this is an Aerides. Then "they" said, oh no it isn't, so what shall we call it ? Someone must have been a crossword addict , because what they came up with was an anagram - Sedirea. So its a monotypic genus ; only one in the genus. Get it, you've got the lot. Something to boast about ? If your audience is credulous, yes...
Grows well in straight moss. I'm hoping for 12 flowers this year - buds still developing, about 8 definite so far.... I'm also hoping for a new growth at the side, to start to make a clump. I didn't know that was possible until I visited a nursery and got shown into the back room - not normally open to visitors and saw their "mother plant" which was a clump of half a dozen growths, six spikes... the result of growing it well for years and years and years. I'm growing mine well now ( I took advice ! ) but this is only the second year of doing that.
I'm an optimist - of course - are there any orchid growers who are not ? So I'm hoping.
