Cathy, that is beautiful. I also have a V. Mimi Palmer X V. coerulea. It is a blooming size, but all it does is putting an energy to two keikis.

Al...you are always funny. I like reading your posts.
Naoki...This one has a few Keikis, too. But it has several old bloom spikes so I hope to see a spike before it gets cold.
I wonder if having the coerulea as one of the parents makes it a little more cold tolerant? I didn't ask. Sometimes we have a little language issue. He doesn't understand southern accents![]()
Let's hope it will make a spike soon. After all it did bloom before. That would be nice. I guess it does not have to be cold tolerant in Florida.

Willeke, Last winter it got down to 26 Fahrenheit which I think is about -2 or 3 Celsius.
I'm terrible with math. If I have checks...I have money.
Cathy, the blooms are just stunning. Enjoy all your new plants. A friend like you describe is a rare priviledge indeed. I've always thought that gardeners in general are among the kindest, most generous people I've ever met. This gentleman seems to go beyong that! Great stories and nice thread.
Cheers,
Tony
Does it really get that cold in Florida. It's hard to imagine. Than it can be nice if it is cold tolerant.
Cathy this is one of the beautiful hybrids that I ever seen the color so intense and eye catching, so sweet.
Bill you wound me. I am actually very culturally oriented. I bet you didn't know that I can play 'The Stripper ' by Henry Mancini on the Cello or that I can play The Minute Waltz in a little under an hour. I would like to see you try these things! They are especially not easy when your tone deaf and there are no musical notes for what your playing. I bet you thought the only culture I knew grows in a petri dish. Well, I expect now you know how wrong you were about me. Recant Sir, Recant! AL
