How different but beautiful in its own way. Love the contrast.
Roy, That is just a stunning bunch of blooms. Most of the thyrsiflorum I have seen have a more orangy lip. This color is outstanding.
Your right Cathy, they usually do have. They're basically all I've seen BUT 25+ years ago I had a thyrsiflorum exactly the same as this, the deep egg yoke yellow lip. I don't know if its a variety or one from a diferent location in nature but its definitely a stand out.
The bloom could almost be mistaken for a narcissus. It has the classic color of the one that grows almost wild over here.
Having the exact same colored plant 25 years ago must have been fate when your hand picked this one out of the bunch.
