Weird ascocentrum in term of plant and flower, so nice.
I like its spur bends like Aerides.
It is a rare temperate Ascocentrum species.
Newv to me as a plant , although I did pick up a mention in IOSPE when preparing for a lecture I am giving to my own Orchid Societyy this month on Vandaceous Orchids ( excluding Vanda and Phally).
The other really rat-tailed leaved Asctms have been moved out of the genus, and maybe when Kew get around to giving the DNA the usual treatment it will follow to e.g. Seidenfadenia. I don't think it will be on my wish-list - I can't find space for every one of the 1300 species in the sub-tribe whiuch makes up the true Vandacea , and I keep finding so many exciting (sounding) inter-generic hybrids which I do find space for ! ( A couple of which are now in bud , to be posted here if and when....)
