Tim, did you get a chance to see if that helped? They're not quite sure how this could be happening over at vB... I cleared my cookies and things work fine for me again. Hope it's the same with you two.

Wolf, the way it should work is, when you click "log out" you should get taken to a page that says "all cookies cleared" with two links: return to the page you were viewing, or go to forum index. Your username will still be on the top right of that screen. But as soon as you link away, your username should be gone.

Gin, no reason to log out really, if you're the only one on your machines. The system automatically logs you out (or should) after an hour of no activity.

I, too, had to log out twice. My username was still present after I logged out the first time, but not after I logged out the second time.

Interestingly enough, however, if you log out only once, but then try returning to post something the forum requires you to log back in! Hmm, in reading over all this, I'm not sure if I'm being clear! I logged out once then tried to respond to this thread and I got a message telling me I didn't have permission to access the page. So, even though it appeared I was still logged in, I really wasn't. (Yeah, I know, y'all're thinking I have way too much time on my hands!)

I deleted temp files, offline files, deleted cookies but its still the same. I don't mind really, at least its not freaking out my start button this time. Otherwise, its the public library for me everytime I want to visit RVO forum.

The last time hubby use the computer( he is a lot worse than me when it comes to pc literacy) the virus scan kicked in and he thought he got the pc infected, scared the hell out of him. He hasn't touch the pc since.

Lark, thanks, yes. When you click log out, and the screen goes to "cookies cleared," it will still say "Welcome (whoever-you-are)" at the top right. But if you go to try and post, you should not be able to, and that "welcome whoever-you-are" should go away.

Tanya, I don't know why the problem is happening for you--it stopped for me after I logged out of the forum and cleared the cookies in my browser. WHen I logged back in, and then out again, I logged out for real. Didn't have to press the button twice.

ok, so I logged in and did all my reading of new posts and then logged out... the cookies were cleared but name is still showing. Then I went and mucked around with something else... and then decided to clear all my cache and cookies and then logged on to RVO again and then read some more stuff.. then logged out and well name is still there...

anyways, it's no big deal because if I try to post it will say I am not logged in... so maybe just one of those quirks...

What you should not be able to do after you log out is post messages or edit, so as long as that part is working.....
