Wow - impressive - practically the foundation for a great new collection, if you didn't have one already! I'm very taken with your noid paph - such a large, dark bud - promises all sorts of good things! Can't wait to see it.

Wow max, you got some cool orchids! A friend of mine (lucky snowbird) was at that auction and he was impressed with the variety, especially all the dendrobiums. He is all inspired now for our little orchid club to hold similar auctions when he gets back to the frozen tundra. Did you like the auction format? Was there a lot of bidding competition?

Thanks for all the compliments it was a fun auction. It's just a good thing I didn't have any more money or I would have come home with lots more and I'm already having trouble finding room for the 11 I just got.

Yes it is a good addition to my 87 orchids I already have now it's up to 98 if my numbers are right I'll have to recount soon. As soon as the paph opens I'll post it's pic.

I was trying to stick to the ones that really interested me I think I did good without going TOO over board. I think I remember talking to your friend, the auctioneer said they've been doing this for 30+ years and this was their largest and most diverse group of orchid they've ever had for sale. The auction format was good and the bidding competition was pretty good but not to bad in my case, the least expensive for me was $10 and the most expensive was $31 so not too bad at all although their were a few that that got too expensive for me.
