Is this a keiki on my Phal?

Hi Gage! The spike is coming from the side. It looks like it was one of the very first spikes the plant produced...it originates from the very base of the plant, all the way down by the roots. Not sure if that matters...but it seems to be an older spike than some of the others that are coming from higher up. What's your thought on what my plant is doing?

Oh, and thanks for weighing in on my Mokara post! I'm glad someone knows what I should do with the little guy!

Jenn, I wouldn't worry about the little leaf/bract on the spike. It looks like the plant just couldn't decide what it was growing, but it isn't a keiki, just a little stray leaf.

Thanks Gage...you seem to be correct...the little leaf looks exactly the same now as when I first noticed it. I guess I just have a confused plant! LOL

It's just a leaf,as one of mine does this...it even had a spike comming out of the crown itself ...
