Also quite surprisingly G. bowringiana x lueddemanniana eventhough being a primary cross is not registered yet at the RHS and I plan on doing that![]()
The shape of the flower reminds me of an orchid I have called Rth. Blue Grotto. It has both Gur. bowringiana and Ctt. Portia in its background.
I'll just call it BEAUTIFUL while y'all are doing all the research for it's parentage. Great buy Maura - martha
Okay - here are a few more photos - I hope they'll help. I just snapped them quickly with my point and shoot, so if there is any detail anyone wants more photos of, let me know. By the way, no fragrance. Again, the colors are pretty accurate, I think. I think there are around 25 pbulbs. The entire plant from the top of the medium to the highest bloom point is about 32".
Again, thanks to everyone!
Although the flowers look a lot like Rth. Blue Grotto, I'm afraid I'm off-track because my Blue Grotto is bifoliate. I see in your last post that your plant in unifoliate.
Actually, I looked at that and I don't think it is Blue Grotto - Take a look at OWiz Portia 'Mayflower' - that's it. I've been trying to link into it but I can't do it - maybe someone else knows a way. In the meantime, I'm going to take some 'real' photos of it.
PS - Jeff - to make it even more confusing, some of the pbulbs are unifoliate and others are bifoliate!
