i leave everything outside except a few that have to come in, but not till weather gets into the 40's. so like novemberish. the drier you leave the roots, the cooler they can handle. so don't water on a night it will get below 55 for tropicals, or under 50 for anything else. that would be my 'safe guess' but i'd probably allow lower temps for my collection. all i plan to pull in this winter (unless we really get some cold) is the sharry baby (maybe.. he he!), and the encyclia cordigera. the mokara i might leave out and keep dry this year, as it really blasted a bunch of buds on me last time around, and it is starting to spike again. i can just yank it in if it gets too cool, but night only. cool weather isn't so bad if the roots are dry, and the day temp is not more than 20 degrees higher.
