Dear Maura- O the shame of it! ERROR ALERT This IS E radiata by mistake... my photos of E lancifolia are lost. Soreee. Well now: if I take a plant upstairs to dad's little studio, I just use whatever happens to be on the tripod. So this picture could have been any one of 5 or 6 cameras. They are all black and look the same to me I do not know why he has so many nearly identical cameras that do pretty much the same thing (being the ones he actually uses; he has cupboards full of cameras spanning the past century- his "orchids" I guess) Anyway I use my camera downstairs in the natural light of the conservatory: this is the same sort of class and design and look as the ones in the studio- on my one it says: Panasonic DMC-FZ2B... LUMIX... 10 Megapixels... 18x optical zoom...

By the way - I always ask if I think of it - what camera equipment do you use?

ERROR ALERT: This IS E radiata- pictures of lancifolia are lost! Still, they are very similar, except lancifolia has a subtle blush of purple here and there. They are members of this group which all look similar, barring subtle varuations of tone, aroma etc... however, this group of species do seem to differ more between each other in growth habit and vigour.

Oh please, Igor, worry not about the lancifolia/radiata issue. I have only 2 encyclias, and neither have bloomed for me yet. I do appreciate your diligence, though - I'm still learning - will be forever, I guess.
