Nothing to be ashamed of, Igor. Old timers like me still sometimes (hanging my head in shame) refer to our country as Malaya, much to the chagrin of our countrymen in the Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak. From 1957 the Malay Peninsula with 11 states was named the Federation of Malaya after gaining independence from Britain. In 1963, Singapore and the Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak joined the Federation and was renamed Malaysia. Two years later, Singapore broke away to be an independent sovereign state. Today Malaysia comprises 14 states - the original 11 states of the Peninsula, the 2 Bornean states and the newly created Federal Territories. Our flag reflects the status of our country: 14 stripes, 14 pointed star and the Crescent moon denoting Islam as our official religion. Many people think our flag is reminiscent of the American 'Stars and Stripes' but it was actually inspired by the flag of the East India Company (which pre-dates the US flag) with the parallel stripes and the Star and Crescent on a blue canton replacing the British flag.
Hehee! I don't see "ugly," but the bulldog paphs do sort of remind me of that one spitting dinosaur from Jurassic Park....
:hehehe!TTACH=CONFIG]59875HAHA!! I love the juxtaposition- you are a card, Jenn. (Bulldog Paphs, eh? Privately I think of them as traffic signs!) So well grown though
I agree on the creepy. Nice bloom!
