Many of the South American thin-leaved species in the Oncidium alliance complete a whole year of growth, flower and rest (if any) in about 10 months in UK conditions, so they tend to flower at different times of the year ; but most are a bit shy of autumn flowering, so they may go from May, to March, to January and then - with a multi-growth plant, a different growth will flower a few months after the last one, before skipping best part of a year to start all over ; in other words its a bit erratic , and I strain to try and fit a pattern to it, and maybe `i am misunderstanding what is going on.
