Love your plants but my favorite is the cym
Oh my goodness me - "finally warm enough for the catts to come out of the house" ...I find that difficult to imagine. Here in Northern-ish Europe, we are still unbelievably in the middle of winter. Most of England and Scotland is blanketed with fresh falls of snow - even here in the "warmest" part of England, although we have escaped the snow, the thermometer stood at 3 degrees C. when I went out this afternoon. My greenhouse is Ok - on a sunless afternoon, I got 19 degrees C - but at a cost which makes me flinch every time I get the fuel bill - that's every month...This evening, for the first time , I started to wonder, how much longer can I actually afford to grow orchids with the way gas and electric bills are heading for the stratosphere ? And will my collection actually be saleable to anyone , since everyone is in the same boat ?
Well, it was supposed to get warmer. We had another "cold front", come through so I had to hold off again on moving the plants. We are setting records for coldest day in March since they began recording weather. lol So I am trying to be patient and am trying to catch up on other things for now. Maybe this weekend I can move plants outside?..I hope! And I understand the cold weather stuff. I used to live in Michigan which is much colder and snowier...it was always my dream to live somewhere in Florida. And the economy...well it has left us with only two nurseries out of seven that used to be in the area. Normally it wouldn't be considered a blessing to be "handicapped"...but under the financial circumstances I see even our international friends struggling with lately...my regular income is an amazing blessing. I hope everyone will see things ease financially soon...
Well, we only live once, unless you are a Buddhist, and bound to the wheel of fate - in which case you get ground underneath once per revolution. So, we ( me and my missus ) are skiing all the time . Skiing is an English acronym for Spending The Kids Inheritance....
We have just Been discussing a world cruise for next January - But decided that being away for 105 nights is too much. Good, now I can blow a few hundred at the London OrchidShow in2 weeks time....
