Believe they're supposed to be pretty good eating. As far as possible internal parasites, Angela, pretty much the same story with any food animal -- make sure it is cooked properly.

I wouldn't take chances....................The snails also carry a parasitic rat lungworm that can cause illness in humans, including a form of meningitis, Feiber said, although no such cases have yet been identified in the United States.
