Bizzare is what I would describe this genus. Yes, you never expect to win any prize from exhibiting these flowers. The flower does not last long (3 to 5 days). The prime of the bloom is normally on the first and second day. I will be bringing this plant to our monthly show this Sunday to share with other orchid growers. Hopefully it can last till then.

The pollination process by bees is very interesting. I hand pollinated my C. macrantha and made into several flasks which I will be deflasking in a week or two. Most likely I will pollinate the flowers from the next two plants as this a rather uncommon species.

One of the heaviest flower in this genera may reach up to 100 gm so nice.

I wanted to weigh the flower but failed to do so. perhaps my next flower I will do so.

I think that these are beautiful flowers. They might not be everyone's cup of tea but to me they are and that is why I have just bought my very first one. I got a Cryths. picturata....I hope that I get to see it bloom.
