So what is this at the end? I've got one labelled Dendrobium aphyllum. Should I relabel it to Dendrobium cuculatum?

actually if you read the text on the website, it would appear that the more proper or correct name would be cucullatum. That's why I use it over aphyllum. Oh anyway, in the Philippines, we (the backyard orchid enthusiasts) aren't very particular with names. In fact, I know the correct names of only about 20% or less of my orchids. The rest, especially the hybrid ones, have no IDs. Very rarely are orchids labeled at all in trade fares, particularly in my locale.

Can anyone tell me if this dendrobium also has the same preferences as the anosmum? I read somewhere that one should withhold watering the anosmum as early as November so that it will produce flowers instead of keikis in February or March. Should I do the same for the cuculatum/aphyllum?

Thanks Yew. Now I think I won't get flowers in February. I keep watering the lower part of the plant where the leafy keikies have grown. It's just the top of the plant where the roots are that is watered sparingly.

thanks for the link, Horst. It says there that Dendrobium cucullatum is a synonym and that the accepted name is Dendrobium aphyllum. So does that mean that sinced it is a synonym, is it OK to use cucullatum instead of aphyllum since they refer to the same plant?
