I really like both the color and form. What a great plant. Space for orchids is fascinating and perhaps magical. For years i have not had room for one more orchid but i keep fitting them in!!!

It was a good deal. By today's standards it wouldn't get very far in AOS judging, but this was awarded around 50 years ago. I think the cultivar "Mayumi" AM/AOS was awarded later with much larger flowers. It's still a nice thing to have. It usually doubles in size every year if given good culture.

Oh, I have. Still have one Maikai hybrid that I haven't gotten rid of yet. It bakes all summer long on my SE balcony -- direct, unobstructed sun from 8am until around 2pm ... and my balcony gets hot enough to blister one's feet. Plant has never gotten burned in doing so.
