Kayak Fishing Anyone?

Sorry Kauaiguy for the mistake. that is a big mahi-mahi. Around April-June is our peak season for this species but our Indian Ocean mahi-mahi do not reach the size of your Pacific variety. The biggest I've caught was 7 1/2 kg and that is considered big here. We normally use 15 lb line for mahi-mahi.

This is a common fish here in Malaysia and is called 'belitung' in Malay and 'golok' in our Kedah dialect. The reason you don't see them is because they are almost never seen in the markets because our local people do not like to eat them. But I can assure you that the flesh is delicious especially if you make fish and chips with the fillet.

Haha I never knew that the fish exist in Malaysia either! I must be living under a rock Or maybe because the fish looks so bizarre to be eaten? I will try to eat it if I have a chance.

Never been kayaking. Mostly just use a canoe. But beautiful kayak and fish. Once while in the swamp helping with frog research ( we were listening for frog calls to see what types of frogs and about how many were out there) I turned on my flashlight to move around and my flashlight immediately caught the red glow of some alligator eyes not two feet from me. Was a really scary thought he was so close and I didn't know.

The gators actually sound somewhat like the frogs croak. Just a little deeper lol!
