Its been a lot cooler this year so it looks like the heat last year was the issue with the spotting. I have two divisions. This one is potted.

It must have been. Just beautiful!

Very nice color. Beautifully grown and bloomed.

It still possesses so much beauty Chris, and the photo of the parent plant is simply amazing.
After staring at your pic on and off for a couple of weeks, I have just remembered - the correct name is Miltonia spectabilis variety Moreliana. ( I think it is variety, not sub-species , and certainly not just plain cultivar, since it is - or was - found in the wild in this form. Much nicer than plain old spectabilis ! - see my posting of another spectabilis form, to follow shortly.

post script. I did some research on this in Kew records. M.spectabilis var moreliana is an accepted name dating from 1841. M.moreliana has been an accepted since 1928.
Assuming that the two are identical plants - and I have seen these and grown them under the spectabili var moreliana name for 50 years or more, then I think that by the rules of priority species + variety is correct.
But we can fight over it if you like - three rounds and the loser buys the beer ?
That s really stunning! I am amazed at how big it is!![]()
