I have my fluorescents on only 12 hours a day, summer and winter. The house furnace is set for over night 62 degrees in winter and the rooms in which I have my paphs get a little chillier than that. This week we had the tree people come to prune the large maple tree in front of our east facing living room window. The maple was getting to full of limbs to grow my orchids and the limbs were not benefiting the health of the tree either.
