Not very far from Toulouse, France, where i live, there are a lot of wild terrestrial orchids like that Ophrys scolopax, Ophrys insectifera, ...
Ten years ago, I have collected wild Ophrys on an area on whitch a house must be built. None has been able to survive at home.
I explained this phenomenon on the one hand because the re acclimation of this sorte of plants is very difficult.
On the other hand, they require a continental climate, which can be very hot during the day and very cold at night in winter. I didn't have the same conditions in my home.
Nevertheless, in France (and Europe), some of them are protected in nature (it depends on the area where you are).
In the spring I shall observe in the wild and they are really beautiful ...![]()
