Steve, This is what one of my dend noids looks like right now. The bloom looks very similar to the example you posted, but not exactly the same. Mine seems to behave exactly as yours. Here it is late fall and it's in bloom and the newest cane (sprouted in early Sept.) is 10" or so tall, and still growing. The current blooms arise from the tip of the growth from the last two years. Each cane blooms at least twice, maybe three times, I haven't kept count. The leaves are very rigid like a phal , they aren't deciduous and can't take full summer sun in NJ. They will burn.
I looked for some basic dend culture catagories for a long time, and couldn't find any. Even if there were and easy way to tell hard from soft canes the cultural requirements seem to cross back and forth across the line.
