Yup. I used to visit my aunt in Australia. It was incredible to see the flocks of parrots...lories, cockatoos, rosellas, etc. fly through her property every day!

Yes, that's a great sight. I was in Australia last year and spent 3 days birding. I especially liked the flocks of Galah Cockatoos...

WOW! Those are amazing! I loove the purple bellied with that flat head sooo cute - don't think our cat would be to impressed with having a bird for a younger brother... Ooooh btw. we're getting a kitty on th 28th - a norwegiean forrest cat (kinda like main coon..) since we lost our yungest cat over christmas He had a heart disorder and died in my grilfriends arms on the way to the animal hospital - quite emotional - so now we are reallyl looking forward to picking the new guy up.

I'm so sorry about your cat passing away. My little girl (cat) has a heart condition too, so I always worry. But a Norwegian Forest Cat, they have quite a following in the US. Very lovely, but lots of long fur! For those who aren't familiar with the breed, here is a photo.

Okay - you don't just collect birds. You have an uber collection on steroids (the collection, not the birds.) I can't imagine that if there were only a handful of a certain variety in existence, any old person could go out and buy it.

Are you an ornithologist? Or in academics associated with a major university? I'm being nosey, but a collection as unusual as yours typically belongs to a specialist in the field.

They're all lovely, but your photos of the blue steal my heart! Can he really blow that noisemaker?

Beautiful ! I raise birds not rare ones , Canaries , Finches , Cockatiels . My pet is an Alexanderine , been looking for a pair none around here .

Not nosey at all. I'm not an ornithologist nor associated with a university. I am just a totally neurotic collector who doesn't stop until he finds what he is looking for!

I am a Pre-vet student and hope to start veterinary school in the fall of 2008. I just finished my Ph.D. in archaeology in 2005. I'm 28 and have been a student for 24 years now!

That is quite a combo - Phd in Archeology and now Veterinary school! Will you plan to open a practice and specialize in birds? I take my cat to a vet who only treats cats.
