Hi again,

here are some more nice things to ogle, including one real stinker.

Only after I'd brought her home from the flower market last Saturday, did I notice the horrible odor coming from my new bulbophyllum carunculata. Well, another thing learned...and another orchid for the backyard :-)

Here it is, together with my first cattleya (which I discovered and immediately bought exactly four minutes after telling my wife "I hate cattleyas, I find them much too showy") named "Lc. Loog Tone 'African Beauty' (Lc.Netrasiri Doll x C.Thospol Spot)", as well as a very nice pink-white brassidium (I believe) and a whole NOID oncidium bush full of lovely white and burgundy little flowers.

As always, enjoy, and please don't hesitate to tell me if you recognize any of these little fellers...

Two Ton, you've done it again. Made me totally jealous. The NoID oncidium looks a lot like Sharry Baby - is it fragrant? As for that Catt....well, since you hate Catts, I thing you should ship it off to me.... Heeee Heee!

Another weekend, another trip to the flower market...this time I was lucky - only one NOID out of four, and it should be easy to ID,as I was told that this is a species (not a hybrid) from the Philippines.

Any ideas, anyone?

- Sophrolaeliocattleya 'Golden Wax' x Laeliocattleya 'Trik of Trik'
- Sophrolaeliocattleya 'Little Haze'
and my absolute favorite:
- Aerides lawrenciae

The Trichoglottis philippinensis is actually Trichoglottis atropurpurea, aka Trichoglottis brachiata.

Some taxonomists would prefer it as Tricholgottis philippinensis var brachiata.

A lot of Philippine species find their way to Taiwan, hence I am sure you will find a lot more in the next few days. Some Philippine islands of the Batanes group are actually closer to Taiwan than they are to Luzon, the biggest island in the Philippines.

In fact, just the other day I brought home another species from the Phils, a Vanda ustii. However, the vendor told me that it's now illegal to import orchid species from there to Taiwan.
