12 images follow on this and the next two posts -( 4 parts is an error - it is actually 3 ) ... here's the back story....
My Society is putting on a display at Wisley Garden on Saturday ( Wisley is the RHS show garden - south west of London). I'm not too sure of the details, maybe it is the Orchid Soc of Great Britain Spring Show - I am not currently a member of either the RHS or the OSGB - I resigned from a lot of Societies a couple of years ago, where my membership was simply a drain on my finances with no actual return - but that's another story.
However I am asked to provide plants for our display. Happy to do this. So today I sorted out the big stuff...three Renanthera and 7 Vandas , and since the weather was fine for once ( we are having a very wet spell, just now) I put them outside and took a few snaps, which I can now share with you.
The first Ascda is Bangkhuntien Gold x Chiangmai Gold ; doing well this year with maybe 18 buds and flowers - not all out yet, and taking the plant out of the greenhouse for a few days for a show, may stop it dead in its tracks, so the top buds may not develop.Vanda flowers do go on growing and increasing in size after they first open, but only as long as the plant is in its proper environment ;.
The lovely lavender - Ascda Geo Beck Bee is producing the best ever flower count for me, so far, on any Ascda ; I can count 25 buds and flowers ; it has done that before, but on two spikes, one on the main plant, and one on a keiki ( since removed, and sold off) but 25 in a single spike is what it now has.
The other "Yellow" is an Ascda Orglade Gold cross , the other parent being Fuch's Gold x Bangkhuntien Gold. A more normal spike of 15 or so buds and flowers.
Finally Ren citrina ; I have shown this same spike recently in its own thread, before this many flowers were out. Somewhere near its best now.
