So, the media arrived in the mail yesterday, and because I will have some excess media on hand, I fugured I might as well go ahead and order some seed and use the rest of it up (if successful). So, now I have some rearranging to do in order to fit everything, but I am confident that I'll be able to make the room.
Here's a question for those of you who are wise in the way of flasking. How much media should I put in each flask? I realize this is the mother flask so I have a little bit of time until the flask gets to the replate point. a depth of 2.5 cm? More?
Thanks.
Aaron
Personally, I have been starting with about 1cm of media, and them replating them as soon as they are big enough to handle (I'm a little paranoid these days because I had couple of flasks go from green to gray really quickly). I would think that you could get away with putting very little media in the mother flask, considering they don't put out very aggressive root growth. And you only keep them in there for a couple of months before replating.
...so yep 1cm or less, or more...probably won't make a difference... of coarse if it does, then I would like to know.
Good luck, post some pics.

So, Muddhb...like the avitar...big homestarrunner fan?
I can't get enough StrongBad, man thats funny stuff.
What or who is Strong Bad and homestarrunner?
Diane,
perform a search for it on google, there is a whole series of animated cartoons. Most of them are not raunchy humour unlike alot of other sites. Alot of them are just plain funny.
Here's one for you and anyone els interested:

How much agar? 100-120mL per flask, typically. If it is a mother flask, just tip it sideways and fill it up with agar until right before it meets the neck of the jar.
I have also had success with Dandy Warhols, Lovage, and Placebo. Pixies have been shown to increase germination, while Clash increases rooting.
WOW...good to hear that someone else also has Lovage in their collection! I wonder what the effects of the voice of Jennifer Charles has on orchid developmet...Originally Posted by SteveT
