    I grow the besseae in sphagnum which I believe has a low level of nutrients. I "sneak in" a very dilute fertilizer every now and then. the brachys I have in a CHC/charcoal/chopped sphag mix, and again I 'sneak in' a little fert from time to time.

    no idea if the natural ferts would be better. maybe?

    I use worm juice and seaweed and fish emulsion on my bessaes and i haven't noticed any adverse reaction... and lately i have not been very mathematical about how much, i just pour enough to colour the water and voila... water it all in...

    I have a friend who does vermicomposting and uses the resulting "worm juice" for his plants. I haven't heard lately how it has been going, but last I heard I think he thought it was a good thing.

    I learned about worm castings through my new Canadian grower buddy. He swears by the stuff. Search on worm castings. It's commonly available. I think it's the terra equivalent of kelp extract.

    ok, ok, it's not the whole blendered worm stuff ok... this is an organic garden after all and no worms were hurt in the making of our products

    now, I've just googled and well, there's no definitive name for it... so short of calling it Wonder Juice (penned by our local Cafe who receives a container every so often from Steve.. I think he's just after free coffee's...) I much prefer the Worm Juice name...

    and I totally swear that it is brilliant for leaves and roots... I get plenty of those...

    might have to supplement K for blooms though....
