light question

Im not sure, but I think K stands for Kelvin(how that relates to light, I have no idea, I'm probably dead wrong).
I find it hard to believe that any light source has a 98% efficiency rate, as that would mean almost no energy is lost to heat. Correct me on that one orchidman!
I was calculating the 4800 becuase my lights are only a few weeks old. Thanks for the info on the Catts though. I wonder if I can grow a Sophornitis cernua under those lights??????

if you have 10,000 lumens, 2 feet away from the catts, that should be 5,000 LCs. if the light is closer, more FCs, if its farther, less. you shouldn't have any problem growing catts with that.

all color is desrcibed as temperature.The scale that they use is Kelvin,
0degrees Kelvin = -273degress Celsius.
An incandesent lamp has a color of approx 2700 degrees Kelvin and the closer that you get to blue the temperature increases so that the equivalent to noon day sun = 6500 degrees kelvin

I should have mentioned that I have a meter for measuring light that I bought from the local electronics store for less than $100

thanks for the help from everyone else, too, i'm definately still looking into the flour tubes, but right now i think i need something that i will be able to move with more easilly. also, getting sick has wasted alot of time, and my catt is getting unhappy. so i am ordering this for now, and will revisit the topic again another time.
