Yes, hawks of the accipiter family are especially fond of doves of all types because they are ground feeders, and because, well, they are kind of stupid. The Coopers and Sharp-Shinned hawks in my area love to go after the mourning doves.

Do you mind if I ask what has you in a wheelchair? A good buddy of mine had a spinal cord injury 10 years ago and is now wheeling. She's amazing - not only does she now mentor the newly injured, she's also made the US Sailing Team for disabled sailors for 4 years now and is making a bid for the Olympics in China!
I've spent a little time in a wheelchair and it's amazing how invisible you become. Hope you don't mind my asking!
