Spritz him with Alcohol on the head I don't think my aim is that good while I am running. Mr Hicks put a rubber snake on the patio to get the racoon's attention and it sure got mine, I still jump when I see it.

that id was right. it is a florida water snake. i thought i would add that this little guy is just days away from shedding. you can tell by the blue coloration in the eye. the eye turns blue when the skin begins to molt and seperate from the eyeball. that being said, should you run into it again, i'd give it a fairly wide birth because snakes tend to be much more testy around shedding time. though you probablly have nothing to worry about. he won't strike unless threatened.
