Man any excuse to have more person jump on the Vanda bandwagon eh Sand Tiger![]()
I think some cym flowers that I've seen are pretty and I kinda like the whole thick bushy look with a splash of color peeking out , however , I'm not running off to buy the first one I see anytime soon . That's just my 2cents worth
Well, I just curious about the cymbidiums' cold/warm thing I prefer to stick to what likes getting a tan. Vandas are kinda out of my price range right now but I am dying to get one. I haven't found a reliable vendor...yet. Ascacendas have got my eye big time, do you have any?
Yvonni, you got it![]()
Dazed - No, I don't have any Ascacendas...I'm not real keen on them. I prefer the giant true Vanda flowers.
Typical man eh , go big or go home .
When did you first get into vandas ? Were they the first orchid you ever had ? How long have you been doing it so far ? Are they your absolute favorite or is it a toss-up between them and something else ?
yeah I ask a lot of questions , just keeping up my end of the bargain for being a girl
Haha! Never too many questions for me. The funny thing is, when I first started orchind-ing (yes, that's a word now. I made it.), I didn't like Vandas. I was much more into Cattleyas, and in comparison to a lot of orchid flowers Vandas seemed oddly simple with their small lip and single-color palette. But I think that's exactly why I started loving them in the end. They're different than other orchids for that very reason, and
probably scream "exotic" to me more than any other orchid (which is exactly why I like orchids in the first place after all). And I'm sure my incessant "always want what I can't have" complex plays a part...I've never actually bloomed one yet. But I'd have to say my favorites are tie between Vanda's and Cattleyas.
Orchid-ing hmm interesting ....... I think I might like it . lol .
So having not bloomed one yet , can you say that your still really excited to have them ? I get bored easily (sometimes, depends on the circumstances) but with plants , which I really love mind you , I would just say to heck with it and move on to something else maybe .
So what about your catts have you had any blooms from them ? Can I pick your brain a bit ? I have a few catts myself they all seem to be doing ok but this one is just not quite getting there somehow . The leaves are kinda soft and for a catt that makes me a bit worried . I am trying to mist the leaves everyday but I can't make it all the time . Is there something else I could be doing to help ?
