I buy most of my orchids using all the above options!
I don’t buy…I propagate and grow my own.

So far, I have about 25 from the grocery store (with over 1/2 as rescues). I have another 20 from my local orchid nursery in Louisville Colorado and the last 15 from on-line sources (with 10 on order waiting for decent weather to ship).
I will attend my first local orchid society show in March that Ron informed me of. And I would be surprised of I didn't come home with at least one new inmate for the asylum!

Although it may not seem so, Central Pennsylvania is a very rural location. I have to travel over an hour to get to the closest orchid society which is fairly small. I love ordering from catalogs or even calling a vendor if I am looking for something specific that I can't find. There are no stores anyplace in the area that sell named orchids so I don't buy any that way.

I know this is an old survey but it still has legs......
I have found a couple of outstanding on-line sellers I buy from. (Feel free to PM me if you want to know the best one here in the US so far!) I also use the large auction site. I go to my local high end nursery and the local orchid nursery. And of course, my grocery store, who I blame for starting me down the road to addiction!
