we have GREEN!! GREEN! GREEN!. The pod-parent Mildred Reeves is a sea of green, and alot of it (still too small to get a pic)...wish I bought that macro lense set! Maybe this up coming weekend. So...now that we know something is going on for sure, it is now that wait for them to get really going. This part is months long. Since we don't really have a time table to give us an approximation (unless someone else has one), replate is not necessarily in the immediate future...possibly four months down the road at the earliest, most likely six.

But, thought I'd let everyone know the good news!

Unfortunatly no, but I'm not giving up hope yet on them. It took this long for the MR flasks to turn green, it may just take longer for the gasks.

Snort! Having a baby is easy compared to breeding orchids. And there's one or two really obvious moments for uncorking the Veuve. In orchid breeding, if you toasted every milestone you'd be an alcoholic. Yet, still I'm trying!

The gask flasks are a huge disappointment to me, because I thought that would have been the more interesting and refined flower. But we still have protocorms on an unregistered cross, and that ain't nothin!

As a side note, the gaskelliana parent - actually both pod parents - were severely stressed carrying the pods. In her stress, the gask picked up that nasty little fungus that went after my other two new Catts. I caught it early I think and cut the rhizome ahead of the two oldest back bulbs. They'd been hit, but I don't think the new ones got it. Cross your fingers for mom's health!

well, I hope mamma is going to make it. It may be worth trying the cross again down the road, once everything is in optimal health. Ok, so if we need a mile-stone to break out the "bubbly", that'll be for the compotting, but we'll crack open some nice stout for the replate, shout a nice "Sláinte", "Нос здравиа", or whatever you like.

But, maybe things aren't moving that slowly on the development...there are a couple now that are truly "little green dots".
