Interesting to see all those Vandas in pots. Looks like they were selling bare root Vandas. They sure do have a large selection to pick from. Very good photos Yew, Take Care,Rich

The orchid vendors were out in full force - must be close to a dozen. As usual, there were lots of phalaenopsis of every hue and size, vandas and vandaceous hybrids, dendrobiums, cattelyas and species.
Pic #1 - 4 Some of the orchids at the vendor's booths

There weren't many orchids that really impressed but to me, the most outstanding plant was V Genting Delight, the best vanda I have seen for many a year.
Pic # 1 - V Genting Delight (name on the tag)
Pic # 2 - Phal bellina - beautiful shape
Pic # 3 - NOID Brassia - very big- 8in (20cm)
Pic # 4 - NOID Bifoliate cattelya
These paphios attracted a lot of attention
Pic # 9 - Paph haynaldianum
Pic # 10- Paph philippinense
Pic # 11- Paph sanderianum
Pic # 12 -Paph hirsutisssimum
The large, flat, broad-petalled on the right in Pic#2 are semi-terete vandas. The rest, arachnis-shaped (scorpion orchids) are mostly mokaras( Arachnis x Ascocentrum x Vanda ), arandas ( Arachnis x Vanda ) and the branching red flowers are arantheras (Arachnis x Renanthera ). These are all planted in the open in direct sunlight for the cut flower trade. Incidentally each cutting sells for RM6 (US $1.70).
Thanks for looking in.
thanks for the all the great pics, must agree that is a very nice looking bellina there.
Beautifull photos.
I love P. sanderianum. What a striking Phal with those long ears.
Love Phal. bellina, and how I would be tempted to buy lots of orchids if I were in your place Yew, the more so that we don't have so many of the warmer growing types here... they would be hard to grow though...
All are beautiful but I love the photo of Phal from distance.Gorgeous.
Happen to know the vendor selling those vandaceous cuttings and bought 10 plants to grow in the orchid bed at home - at a discount rate of RM40, instead of RM60.
Totally agree with you an Ian that the bellina is gorgeous. Am now on the lookout for a really good bellina. Was offered one with 'blue' centre instead of purple for RM30 (US $9) but the shape wasn't round enough. So still considering whether to buy it or not.
