Well I love catfish better as food rather than pet especially deep fried or cooked with lots of chillies (if you know what "sambal" is)

AWWWE! I like your pond with all the catfish. However, I stopped eating catfish ever since a bunch of friends and I caught some and brought it home. My mother skinned them right there, cut off their heads and tails, put them in the frying pan..... and then ....!
They started jumping around in the frying pan ... Needless to say ... NONE of us could eat the fish after that! LOL! Mom though it was funny but she loved them.
BTW: I used to swim with my Koi and they would come to me while I feed them by hand. How cool is that!

Fish do seem able to tell people apart. My goldfish always come to beg when I walk past but they stay hidden when someone else passes. I always wondered if they can tell who we are from the vibrations when we walk.
ABSOLUTELY! Fish, Birds and most animals can distinguish between friends and foe. Like I said, when I swam in my pond, I had a couple of fish who would always nudge me because they wanted to be fed by hand.
Another Koi Club member who used to play for the San Francisco orchestra, had two of her koi come near the edge of her pond to listen to her play her CELLO(?). She would practice beside her pond and the two koi would always come to the edge and stay there while she played.
I had a Humming Bird that would come around and wait for me to turn on the fine sprayer that I had and would fly through the mist as I pointed it in the air. Would sit in the Jakaranda tree that I had near my pond and wait until I came out in the morning... usually around 7:00 am.
I have a Betta fish now that I purchased about two months ago, that will always come towards me when I approach his fish tank. Will eat brine shrimp off the end of a pair of tweezer (sp?) when I put it near him.
Last but not least: We have all these wild Red Dirt Roosters running around Kauai, and this bum has one as a pet who rides in the basket in front of his bike.
.
Amazing these animals.
