    Default ORNITHOPHORA RADICANS

Hi all. Just found this little gem flowering in my greenhouse today and thought I'd share it with you. The flowers are so small the camera struggled a tad to get close up. The perfume is absolutely amazing though! hard to believe such a small plant and flower can emit such lovely perfume. Hope you like it.
    Cheers

He he he...yes ang709...it is cute! and I definitely recommend everyone get one. They are no harder to grow than an Oncidium and the perfume is just marvellous.
    Thanks for the feedback guys.

just a follow up on request to show my plant.
First photo is of an old specimen we display at work, quite large.(gives an idea how large they can grow, this one 30cm x 50cm)
Second photo is my own mini version!!! oh well, it's only a baby still... he he
    hope you like.

    Default Ornithophora culture

Well in regards to growing this little beauty I must say that they are definitely cool to intermediate growing, but keep to the cooler side of intermediate. But in saying that mine has experienced temps. up to 42C!!! and it still looks good!! go figure! he he he...
Light is better on the bright side, same as you would give and Oncidium, but much lower than Vanda light, somewhere in between. I have one large specimen of this one at work that is over 15 years old and that one grows and flowers in quite low light, similar to Paphs. So they are very forgiving.
Water plenty in spring summer if mounted and allow a cooler drier winter rest, when misting to stop shrivelling should be enough to keep it going. Avoid at this time any fertiliser but give dilute amounts at every watering in growing season. Mine is mounted on cork slab and they are also fine in pots but...they do have very fine roots so can rot easily, thus watering must be done carefully if pot grown.
Hope this helps and was of some use, this is how I grow mine so if you may have more specific questions let me know.
    Cheers
