    Thumbs up

    Traci,
these are supposed to be fragrant....try smelling it at different times of the day (I had a semi-alba Milt. spectabilis that was lightly fragrant mid-day).

I'll try it. I usually only go near it in the morning if I have to water it. Maybe I'll missing the fragance boat by smelling it to early.

I smelled something. It was very faint and I had to be right on the flower, but it is scented. I smelled it at 7:30pm and there was a light scent. I was smelling it at the wrong time of day. Thanks Prem, I would have thought it was bogus.

now try smelling it earlier in the afternoon...I'm betting you'll catch more of a fragrance then. It is unusual, in my experience, for an orchid flower to be fragrant at all times of the day...most have a peak fragrance time and are then only mildly fragrant (or not fragrant at all) during off-peak hours. I've often noticed that, often, as flowers age, the peak time extends into the non-peak hours (i.e. they are fragrant for more of the day).

It is smelling like Black licorice to me. Yummy.
