Bulbo trouble

My Bulbo Fletcherianum is having some trouble, I got it back in april its on a cork slab with some spag and it started to put on a new growth not to long but that growth is starting to rot from the base of the new leaf down to the psudobulb I'm wondering if I've watered it to much or if something else is going on.

too much watering might be the cause of the rot, most likely fungal. i had those experience before, basically you need to cut the affected bulb and remove all infected tissue, treat with antifungal spray and finally i will smear the cut surface with antifungal powder.
with sphag media, let the media dry before the next watering

I have a bulbo grandiflorum which I believe is in spike. Do the spikes come from the base of the old bulb or from the rhizome? -Sorry to butt in on this thread by the way.

i do not have a grandiflorum but all my bulbo's spike is from the back bulbs.

It is the smaller nubbin that is now a thin tall green spike like growth. I wondered if it was a spike because of where it was coming from. The larger growth in this pic I am sure was also a spike but it blasted. They are born from two different places on the plant- one from the rhizome one from the old pbulb- so I was unsure if they were both spikes.

too early to tell if it is a growth or a spike, but a growth can occur from back bulb or the rhizome. as for spike i had not have any experience where they emerge from the rhizome. but please do not take my words for it for i only have a limited amount of bulbo in my collection. let's wait for the bulbo gurus to drop by

The green growth in this pic is the same one from the previous pic -the small nubbin at the base of the pbulb not the longer one -that blasted. This picture was taken last week where as the older pic was taken maybe six weeks ago. It has since turned a green colour and got long and thin. It really looks spikey to me.



The growths that have just started and are definitely growths look completely different

Whatever is is - it looks healthy! Hopefully it is a spike!!!
