I love my Lumix (FZ38) which I got very reduced as they wanted to clear out old stock from the shop before the new models arrived. I'm still trying to find my way around it, but think once I know what I'm doing I will be blown away by the possibilities. Already my photography has improved beyond recognition. (But I will never be as good as you guys....)
Everything takes time and experience - you will soon be taking photos just as good as, or better, than everyone else. Keep working with the camera - it pas off - and your orchids will thank you!

As Maura said "Everything takes time and experience". I'm always using my "old" Panasonic FZ28 and I'm satisfied.

Yes, just take time to experience with your camera then you will fully "control" it one day (really take times before you understand your camera - that is my experience)

Moreover, I cherish the advise I got from a professional: Look at the photographs of well known photographers and try to find out why you fancy these pictures (or not...), you can learn a lot from those people!

Beautiful photos, Rui, especially the closeups!!! Great technique ....shows what one can do with a 'simple' compact and even a non-specialist lens (macro). You are an inspiration to all who use simple compacts. Looking forward to more of your pictures.

Not always have enough money to buy the equipment we want, but that does not mean that you do your best.

Have a nice week Dear Friend.

Beautiful shots, Rui! And especially timely since I'm trading my Canon Powershot A590 in today for a Powershot G11. So often people, flowers and other moving things won't stand still long enough to have their photo taken! I'm taking it with me to Maine so I can get some candids of my family, but maybe I'll have time to compose some good ones as well. The beaches in Maine are very photogenic (as are my kids).

(I'm keeping my Nikon D80 here in Atlanta - I won't give that up, for sure.)
