    Default Galeandra, what is it?

Does anyone have any pictures of galeandra devoniana?

Does anyone know anything about galeandra in general? I looked in a genus list and did not see it, but I did see some pictures of some other galeandra in a website and they look slightly like bucket orchids or paphs.

The galeandra are related to cymbidiums..but grow kind of like the catasetinae.

I have galeandra batemanii and greenwoodiana, but I don't have the species you mention. These two are easy to grow...when they sprout new leads in the Spring, give them lots of cattleya type (bright) light and don't let them get too dry. They will bloom in late summer/fall and then go dormant for several months when they don't require but a little water to make happy.

Fun to grow with very unusual flowers. I have a picture somewhere if you want to see it.

TY, I'd like to see the ones you mention. I did finally think of the obvious and googled for images, and the whole page that came up showed the type that looks a bit like a crown, with dark pointed petals on the upper side and a striped bulbous on on the bottom.

Here is an antique illustratrion by Walter Fitch (1800's):

Now my next task is to scare up a plant-anatomy diagram of an orchid so that I have the right names for the right parts, *LOL*!

That's really nice. Makes me think of foxgloves.

    Excellent photo!
The leaves look real while the bloom looks like a painting...
