    Default Ron-NY's Growing areas

As many of you know I don't own a greenhouse but grow most of my Orchids in a friend's greenhouses. Being Glen is a commercial vendor and also has his own private collection, the only way for me to increase my collection in his greenhouses was to get creative so I wasn't taking up too much needed bench space.

I took metal piping and hung it in the greenhouse structure. Here I house my Bulbos, Dendrochilums, Phal species, Coelogynes and a few Catts and Misc on the brighter western and duller eastern sides of this north wall.

The western end of the north wall with Catts, Misc species and Maxillaria on the benches just under them:

I am experimenting with a Lycaste Stick. hanging clay pots with hanging pot hooks. If this works out, I may also hang other species that are in clay pots.:

    Looking toward the eastern end:

At the end of another bench are my Paphs:

On the shadier end of the eastern wall, I have 4' of bench space for shadier and cooler species such as some Zygos, Chocleanthes and some Pleuros. These sits in front of the vent and they get great air circulation.

I also have a corner in the brighter Phrag house where I grow some of my Catts, Phrags, Cyms and other brighter species. My Encs hang above this area. I have tiered the benches to maximize space and grow seedlings under the tiered areas.

The last area that I am utilizing in the greenhouse is on and above the fence separating the greenhouse. Bright on one side and a small area on the north side where I hang my mounts until they get established.

I will do my home areas at another time

    Your welcome Hera!
I estimate that I have 500 orchids and utilize less than 120 square feet of bench space.

That really is pretty amazing! You may not have your OWN greenhouse, but you have access to a pretty incredible greenhouse nonetheless. I like the clever use of metal conduit.

I don't know, Ron. Looks to me like you still have a lot of empty space there. You need to quit slacking and take care of that.
