Default Some new mounts & the mount that almost was ...

Not sure what my problem was taking pic today. Not really satisfied with them but if I wait, who knows when I'll get back to it.
This first one, to be honest is really more of a 'sit' then a mount as the plant hasn't been bound to the mount. This one was hard to photograph while in my terr, but didn't want to pull it out again.

Two shots of a wood piece I really liked -- this is a Haraella on this one which will give some of you a good idea of the mount size

    a few simpler mounts

And the mount that almost was ......... I just couldn't bring myself to cover this one up w/ a plant

Very nice arrangements. Ty for showing them to us

I have a question: how important is it to tie the orchids securely and give them sphagnum moss? I ask because sometimes I see them hanging just out in the air in those pictures of greenhouses.

I have mine set up kind of loosely with no sphagnum.

Depends on the plant & your growing conditions. Greenhouse conditions and indoor conditions are totally different.

Some plants require more moisture and others relatively little. In addition, some plants seem to require lots of air circulation around their roots to be happy -- like vandas -- so those plants generally are not grown with much if any media around the roots.

In my conditions -- particularly in the winter, mounted plants dry out way too fast for me not to use something like moss that is a bit more water retentive -- unless want to water many times per day (and that's not happenin) Even in my terr, some plants dry out faster than I'd like ...

Those are great, Paul. Looks like a lot of work! I would like to see more of your terrarium too if you have a photo.

    Cheers,

Good work! I love mounted orchids. They look so much more natural.
